Gone Pishing is once again out to raise a bunch of money for Travis Audubon's Birdathon! We love doing this because the money we raise helps Travis Audubon do more to inspire conservation through birding. That means more education of both birders and non-birders, more outreach to the community about birds and nature, more conversations about how individuals and communities can protect and provide good and safe habitats for birds, and effective management of over 700 acres for birds and other wildlife. We would appreciate your financial support as we attempt to raise $12,000 or more for Travis Audubon!
Gone Pishing will be heading to the Upper Texas Coast for the weekend of April 17 - 19. For many years, we have done a Big Day in which we tried to find as many species as possible. That was a great challenge and fun most of the time, but it was hard to quickly tick off a species and move on. This year, we are doing things differently. We are not pushing to see the most species possible. We are going to visit two, maybe three, locations and take time to enjoy the birds. We expect to find many resident birds as well as recently arrived migrants. As we watch the birds, we'll ooh and aah over how amazingly gorgeous they are. We will also take time to think about what they were doing yesterday and what they have undergone to be with us. For some, that will mean that they were in the Yucatan Peninsula the night before and that they flew across the Gulf non-stop between then and when our paths crossed. That's worth stopping to appreciate and another example of how amazing birds are!
We would love and very much appreciate your support of our team! Any amount makes a difference. Thank you!
