Greetings, Friends and Family!
Many of you know that my birding life began with Travis Audubon nearly 20 years ago. You may also know that as I nudged Birdability into being nearly 4 years ago, TAS was, and continues to be, right there with me. I thank you and Birdability thanks you, Travis Audubon, for your amazing support and for prioritizing inclusion, diversity, equity and access. Travis Audubon and birding is for everybody!
Birdability is at any minute expecting its 501c3 official designation! We held Birdability Week 2021! in partnership with National Audubon, reaching more than 17,000 around the world through panels, webinars, workshops and social media posts that week.
It is hard to believe but just two years ago this month, in partnership with National Audubon, we launched the Birdability Map! We now have over 1000 sites pinned worldwide. We have 53 Birdability Captains, representing 23 US states, plus Ontario, Argentina, and Chile!
Back to Travis Audubon's Birdathon! Once again, I am birding from dawn to dusk, in five or six or seven different accessible Austin-area parks. But, this time I am honored to have some beloved, longtime TAS members joining me. Additionally, I am so happy to have at least three others with access challenges!
Finally, I have it on good report that Caroline Paul, author and Ted Talk-er will join us, conducting interviews in real time and taking notes for her next book! Please see more about her: http://www.carolinepaul.com
I am not sure how many birds we will see, but I know we will have fun and continue to ensure that birding is for everybody!
