Participants will learn about the Hornsby Bend facility’s role in Austin’s urban ecology, what attracts birds to the site, and how to become involved in citizen science through the Hornsby Bend Bird Observatory Program.

The course will also cover the bird species commonly found at Hornsby Bend in the late fall and early winter. Participants will gain insights into both resident and migratory birds, including identification tips and seasonal patterns.

The class includes a zoom session and a field trip to Hornsby Bend, providing an opportunity to apply the information learned and experience birdwatching in the field.
