Austin's 2026 Catio Tour

It’s back! Austin’s 6th Catio Tour will showcase a variety of outdoor cat enclosures around the Austin, TX area.

COST: Free! Suggested donation of $10 per person. Registrants who make a donation of $10 or more during checkout will be entered to win a gift card from Austin Cat Sitters, Austin's premier feline-focused pet sitters.

Hosted by Travis Audubon, this self-guided tour seeks to inspire cat owners to build or buy their own outdoor cat enclosure so their feline friends can enjoy safe outdoor time. The tour features backyard enclosures from DIY to designer. A “catio,” or cat patio, lets frisky felines exercise, play out hunting instincts and snooze in the sun safely. They can’t kill birds, and cats are protected from dogs, cars, coyotes, and other outdoor hazards. The screened spaces can be elaborate, freestanding structures outfitted with sunbathing perches, ramps, and spiral staircases, or a series of inexpensive wood and wire cubes.

The goal of this unique event is to spread the word about the many benefits of catios, and to inspire cat guardians to build one of their own or have one built. By providing a safe and secure environment, catios protect birds and provide cat guardians with peace of mind.

This year’s tour will consist of houses in the Central and Southwest areas of Austin. Some catios were designed and built by the owners, while others were built by carpenters with design input from the owners. Maps will be provided to registrants via email on or before Friday, March 20. If you register but do not receive the email, please check your spam/junk folder. This is a self-guided tour, and you can visit as many or as few of the catios as you’d like. The catios can be visited from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
