Flock Party Friday at Circle Acres
Description
It's Birdathon, and what better place to grow your life list than at Circle Acres? Circle Acres Nature Preserve, owned and managed by Ecology Action, is located on roughly 10 acres of the Montopolis neighborhood in southeast Austin. Circle Acres is not just a nature preserve, but also a field lab for ecological research, community space for environmental education, and headquarters for a larger restoration project that includes the adjacent Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metro Park. Their restoration projects accelerate ecosystem recovery through biodiversity enhancement, water quality improvements, and regenerative land stewardship.
During this Flock Party Friday, you'll be guided to some of the best birding spots in the park. We will be walking on mix of surfaces that include concrete, grass, and packed dirt. The terrain is mostly flat.
Please meet at the pavilion at the Roy Guerrero Metropolitan Park Plaza at 8am. We'll have a Travis Audubon table set up near the parking lot if you'd like to chat with Travis Audubon staff or purchase some Bird of the Year merchandise. From there, the group will go on a bird walk led by our wonderful volunteers Anna Stalcup and Rachel Zierzow.
