Flock Party Friday at Roy Guerrero

04/03/2026 08:00 AM - 10:00 AM CT

Description

It's Birdathon, and what better place to grow your life list than at Roy Guerrero? Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metropolitan Park is a sprawling, 400-acre urban park located along the south bank of the Colorado River in East Austin. Although many outside Austin may not know this spot, Roy G. Guerrero Park is a favorite among locals for birding, with 50 to 60 different bird species often seen on a typical winter or springtime walk thanks to its impressive diversity. The park attracts a diverse population of resident and migrant birds in all seasons.

During this Flock Party Friday, you'll be guided to some of the best birding spots in the park. We will be walking on mix of surfaces that include concrete, grass, crushed granite and packed dirt. The terrain is mostly flat.

Please meet at the pavilion at the Roy Guerrero Metropolitan Park Plaza at 8am. We'll have a Travis Audubon table set up near the parking lot if you'd like to chat with Travis Audubon staff or purchase some Bird of the Year merchandise.
