Birdathon: Attracting Birds to Your Backyard

05/10/2026 09:30 AM - 11:00 AM CT

Description

Sunday, May 10,  9:30 AM - 11:00 AM
$25 per person, max. 10 people

Go beyond the bird feeder, and learn more about how to attract birds to your backyard. Birds are obviously attracted to feeders, but there is so much more you can do to draw birds into your habitat. Water, native plants and cover all play a role. This Birdathon trip will cover a variety of native plants that provide nectar for hummingbirds, and berries for songbirds. In addition to native plants, you will see examples of do-it yourself backyard projects including water features, rainwater collection, a greenhouse and composting. Learn how to build your own water feature, and rain-barrel project from start to finish. Whether your yard is 100 square feet, or multiple acres, there is a water feature that will fit your yard.

This event is located at James Giroux's house in southwest Austin. Specific directions will be sent to registrants prior to the event date.

For the safety of wildlife and the quality of the experience, pets are not permitted on field trips or bird walks. We appreciate your understanding.
