Wednesday, April 8th – GCWA walk with an expert, 7:30-10:30
Join Clifton Ladd and Chris Gunter, on a beautiful and educational hike through the upland portions of the sanctuary. These outstanding walk leaders will share their extensive knowledge and experience about the GCWA and habitat, while also helping spot and hear other beautiful hill country birds and migrants that visit Baker.
Accessibility: This walk will be along relatively flat trails and at a slow pace, it will not be strenuous. However, the trails do have many trip hazards, with deep mulch and exposed roots and rocks in some sections; this walk may not be a good fit for individuals with balance or footing limitations.
Clifton Ladd is a wildlife biologist, former TAS board member, author of the Balcones Canyonlands Conservation Plan (BCCP), and a prominent GCWA researcher. We are thrilled to have him contribute his vast knowledge about this species and the BCCP to this walk.
Chris Gunter has been contributing his expertise and passion to Travis Audubon for over 40 years. He is a past president of the Travis Audubon board of directors, a Capital Area Master Naturalist and TAS Master Birder, and a long-time field trip leader at Baker, Commons Ford, and other birding destinations around Central Texas.
