Come out for our Young Adult Bird Walk at Southwest Greenway in the Mueller area; this bird walk is intended for birders in their 20s to connect with fellow birders. The mostly flat, paved path winds around a pond, and we will also venture off the path to get a better look of who's in the pond on the stepping stones. Bring shoes that are good for walking, and if you'd like to explore more of the pond, bring shoes that youre okay with getting a little wet. Bring binoculars if you have them, but we will have loaners for anybody who needs them. We will meet near the Butterfly Garden and embark upon our journey from there.
The park has a mix of native riparian grasses and large trees, so it supports a variety of birds. We'll look for birds visiting for the summer, Central Texas year round residents, and hopefully a good variety of waterfowl. We often see Green Herons, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, and Northern Cardinals.
After our walk, anyone who would like to join is welcome to head right down the street to grab a snack and drink at Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches.
